St Denis’ Church, East Hatley renovation – English Heritage offers further grant aid
Following the marvelous renovation work on St Denis’ Church during late 2005/early 2006, English Heritage is prepared to offer a further 75% grant aid towards the cost of completing the repairs of the stonework tracery in the east window and installing a floor within the nave.
English Heritage has estimated this would cost between £15,000 and £20,000 plus fees. This offer was discussed at SCDC's Planning and New Communities Joint Portfolio Holders' meeting on 28 July 2008. Members considered that this further work would ‘make it easier to find a use for the building and represents good value for the Council’ and it was agreed to seek Cabinet approval for the grant of an additional £5,500 of district council money in order to secure £16,500 of grant aid from English Heritage.
The Cabinet approved this at its meeting on 11 September 2008.
