Photographs from the Hatley Summer Fête, 16 July 2011
After a wet start to the day, the weather turned out good on Saturday, 16 July for the first Hatley fête, held in the grounds of Hatley St George church. Many thanks to Philippa Pearson and John O'Sullivan for taking these photographs.

▲ The Reverend Steven Rothwell (left) opens the fête. Also in the picture are Carolynne Mitcham, Ann Hooley, Pam Offord, Linda Perry, Silvia Marshall, Joyce Dixon and Peter Mann.

▲ The stalls, manned by Michael Pearson on books, Philippa Smalls on bric-a-brac and Joyce Denby on plants.

▲ The sun shone, people stood about, bought stuff, drank tea, ate cakes and admired these two cars.

▲ Standing room only in Hatley St George church as the Reverend Dr Malcolm Guite prepares to tell us about his new poem Hatley St George...

▲ ... before reading it to us.

▲ Olivia Drake's beautiful piece of calligraphy of the poem, which is now on permanent display in the church.
