Hatley Babysitting Circle

The Hatley Babysitting Circle exists to enable local parents to be able to go out for the night knowing that their children are in safe, adult hands and that they won't have to pay a fortune for the privilege!

The rules are as follows:

1. On joining the babysitting circle you will receive 12 hours' worth of tokens.

2. If you need a babysitter, phone someone on the list, giving as much notice as possible, and letting them know if you think you are going to be back late.

3. Try to be as accurate as you can about when you expect to be back, and phone if you have any problems.

4. ‘Pay' the babysitter in tokens from the time that they arrive at your house until the time that you return, and round the time up to the nearest half hour.

5. Double time is payable after midnight.

6. Leave the telephone number/mobile number where you can be reached in case of problems.

7. Leave tea/coffee and biscuits or similar for the babysitter.

8. See that adequate heating is left on for the whole evening.

9. Leave notes about your child in case (s)he wakes, and also numbers of doctor and neighbour/friend in case of emergency.

10. Leave a torch/candle and matches in case of a power cut.

11. If you have agreed to babysit and then find that you are unable to do so, please contact the person who asked you immediately and offer to find another babysitter if necessary.

12. On leaving the babysitting circle, members should make every attempt to return 12 hours' worth of tokens to the Babysitting Circle.
