Some notes on local services
plus Park & Ride in Cambridge

It’s fair to say Hatley is not served well by public transport.

The St Neots C2 Thursday market day bus service departing East Hatley, Cambridgeshire 7th June 2018. The service runs from Hatley via Gamlingay and other villages to St Neots.

Other than the ‘Thursday market day’ C2 service to St Neots (pictured left – click for an enlargement), there are no other direct services.

Full details of the C2 service are on our buses page.

However, in updating this site’s buses page, we noted there’s a regular service from Croydon to Cambridge as well as a service (189 / 190) from Gamlingay to various parts of Bedfordshire – both detailed on the buses page.

Not ideal, of course, but the reality of present day economics – and current subsidies for buses.

Park & Ride – and concessionary bus travel

While Cambridge city is infamous for its high parking charges and dearth of spaces (particularly when compared with Ely, Royston, Saffron Walden, St Ives and St Neots), there are good Park & Ride options – the two relevant to us in Hatley (Madingley Road and Trumpington) are also listed on the buses page.

And it’s worth bearing in mind concessionary pass holders can travel free on most buses, local and national – including the C2, 905, Park & Ride schemes and in London – after 9.30 am until the last bus of the day on Monday to Friday and all day at weekends and public holidays.

Do you qualify? There’s more information on the buses page.

Gamlingay and Hatleys Car Scheme

The Gamlingay and Hatleys Car Scheme, run by local volunteers, will take you to doctors, hospitals and other places. Phone 07519 493 701 to arrange a door-to-door service – there is a modest mileage charge, which will be confirmed when you make a booking. Use this link below for more detailed information.
