Planning applications

Applications are announced on South Cambridgeshire District Council’s (SCDC) Planning Application Search system.  This allows you to look at any application in Cambridgeshire, with records going back to 1948 (the latest are first) – including a Hatley section.

The Parish Council receives notification of all planning applications concerning development in Hatley.  Residents whose land is adjacent to the property where a development is proposed also receive notification.

Applications are discussed by the Parish Council either at a regular meeting or at an extraordinary meeting, which will be advertised on the village notice boards and on this website.  Members of the public are welcome to attend these meetings.

The Parish Council submits its comments to South Cambridgeshire District Council.  Members of the public may submit their own comments to SCDC.

The SCDC website also includes an 'Apply for planning permission' page with links to application forms etc – called collectively the Case file.  This note on 'Larger home extensions' may also be helpful.

S/4601/17/FL – a planning application for Moat Farm, East Hatley for change of use of domestic outbuildings to two dwellings.

It was discussed by Hatley Parish Council at its Ordinary Meeting on 16th January and at an Extraordinary Meeting and 30th January 2018.

On 2nd February, SCDC informed Hatley PC further documents had been submitted by the Agent in relation to this planning application – the consultation was re-opened to consider this additional or revised information.

All previous responses to the consultation remain valid and the case details remain unchanged.

Barn Farm - approval situation, March 2017

Planning application S/2835/16/FL.  A planning application by Mr and Mrs Hook of Barn Farm, East Hatley, for retrospective application for the continued siting of a caravan.

SCDC has approved the application subject to the following conditions:

Condition 1
Agricultural tie
The occupation of the caravan shall be limited to a person solely or mainly working, or last working in the locality in agriculture, forestry, or a widow or widower of such a person, and to any resident dependants.
Reason – The caravan is situated in a rural area outside any established settlement where the Local Planning Authority would not normally grant permission for such development and this permission is granted solely in order to fulfil a need to satisfy the requirement of Policy HG/9 of the 'South Cambridgeshire District Council Local Development Framework Development Control Policies Development Plan Document' (2007).

Condition 2
Time restriction
The use, hereby permitted, shall be discontinued, and the caravan, hereby permitted, shall be removed and the land be restored to its former condition on or before 31 August 2018, in accordance with a scheme of work to be submitted to, and approve in writing by the Local Planning Authority.
Reason – Approval of the proposal on a permanent basis would be contrary to the proper planning of the area and to provide the applicant with an additional 18-month period in which to demonstrate compliance with Policy HG/9 of the 'South Cambridgeshire District Council Local Development Framework Development Control Policies Development Plan Document' (2007).

This is likely to be the last planning permission for the temporary siting of a caravan at the application site. The applicant should submit a planning application prior to the expiration of the current 18-month time extension for alternative residential arrangement at the site in line with criteria set out in the national and local planning policies concerning the construction of dwelling to support rural enterprise.
