Christian Aid

While the official Christian Aid week has finished, the need to give never stops – here's how you can still contribute

Christian Aid Week logo – May 2020. You can still donate.

By Rev’d Hilary Young, our parish priest

While there were no red and white Christian Aid envelopes posted through our doors this year, if you are able, please consider alternative ways of donating.

Why?  Well, this annual event is the charity’s main fund raiser to help the needy at home and abroad.

In view of the lockdown, which is so important to combat the spread of the coronavirus, if you are able to contribute, below are ways to do so to enable the valuable work done by Christian Aid to continue.

Their work is particularly vital at a time when Covid-19 is beginning to invade countries which have neither the facilities nor the infrastructure to combat it.

Supporting so many vulnerable people

With all our normal fundraising events having been cancelled, it means the contributions to the Christian Aid appeal from the Benefice of Gamlingay, Hatley and Everton – usually added to the proceeds of four of Gamlingay’s monthly soup lunches and Everton’s coffee mornings – are lost.

And while we will have no way of knowing how much our three villages have raised, more importantly each of us will be doing our bit to enable Christian Aid to continue supporting some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
