Monthly Coffee Morning

Still not happening, but – ideas on how we can meet!

Hatley, Cambridgeshire, Coffee Morning sign. The Coffee Mornings are held on the first Tuesday of every month in Hatley Village Hall from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm.

It’s a real shame, for while the Hatley Coffee Mornings are a great place to go for a natter, cake and coffee (or tea if you prefer), Linda and Mervyn have reluctantly decided, as the coronavirus continues to rage, to cancel them for the time being.

There’s also the legal aspect – at the Hatley Parish Council meeting on 14th July, the issue of whether the Village Hall, which it runs, could be reopened was discussed; but it seems as government regulations currently stand, venues like the Village Hall cannot be used.

There have been a couple of suggestions about how we can be in contact with each other:

1.  Hold a virtual coffee morning, via Zoom, which would keep us physically apart, but enable a degree of interaction, which we are all missing.  Do you feel technically proficient enough to take part in a meeting online? Lots are already doing it, so it could work.

2.  Meet on the the playing field, bringing your own chair and thermos, sitting at an appropriate distance apart, but seeing each other face-to-face and having a good chat.  It’s obviously weather dependent, but worth a try.

If either of these suggestions appeals to you let us know and we can investigate further –

In the meantime keep well, stay safe and look forward to the return to normality.
