Gransden Muddy Fun Run – choice of routes, including a half marathon, 10K, 3K and a mystery marathon on 30th January

Gransden Muddy Fun Run – the half marathon route.

If you like doing half marathons, a 10K or 3K run or going on a family fun run, how about trying the 2022 Gransden Muddy Fun Run?

There’s also a mystery marathon if you prefer challenging terrain.

Gransden Muddy Fun Run – the route.

Gransden Muddy Fun Run – the 2022 route.

The runs take place on Sunday, 30th January and start from Barnabas Oley School playing fields in Great Gransden.

As you can see on the map, left (click to enlarge it), the half marathon passes through Hatley St George – convenient if that’s where you live and need the loo!

This will be the twelfth time the event has been held (originally as GORM, officially the ‘Grandsen Off-Road Marathon’). Its purpose is (and always has been) to raise money for Barnabas Oley School in Great Gransden, which quite a few Hatley children have attended over the years.

The run has contributed thousands of pounds to the school to fund the purchase of IT equipment, swimming pool renovation, playground activity equipment and donations to the library.

Sign-on times depend which race / event you want to enter, with registrations opening at 7.00 am and the Mystery Marathon beginning at 8.00 am. Warm up for the half marathon is at 9.50 am (the start is at 10 o’clock) with the other events getting underway a bit later.

Places for the half and 10k are limited, so best to book early to avoid disappointment.

As the point of the event is to raise money for Barnabas Oley, there are the customary fees – £26 for the half, £16 for the 10K and £5 for the shorter runs.

The reward? Being puffed (possibly / probably) at the end when you will be greeted by soup, cake, squash, water and a medal. (Naturally, children get a medal!)

All the race day details are on the Gransden Muddy Fun Run website.
