Harvest Service – thanks for the flowers, fruit and veg
The Revd Norman Young stood in for his wife, the Revd Hilary Young (our parish priest), to take the Harvest Service in Hatley St George church on 13th October.
His theme was one of thanks: thanks for the harvest ‘gifts’ of wonderful fruit, flowers and vegetables so beautifully arranged around the church – and, following their successes at the 2019 Gransden Show, for the sacks of Hatley Estate’s prize winning cereals.
He gave thanks too for the good fortune most of us enjoy living as we do in England… and Europe, while reminding us there are so many in the world who are far less fortunate.

After the service, there was lunch in the Village Hall – Sarah Titmus’ report:
The festival was a VERY small affair as per but those that came enjoyed it. The soups and crumbles were enjoyed so a big thanks goes to Penny and Pauline for making those, mine was also enjoyed even if Alan thought it looked ‘terrible’! (Haha).
We do need to thank the Co-op for donating 10 freshly baked baguettes.
We made £90 (thanks to Holly for adding £2.57 of her own pennies to make it to £90!).
