For children with special needs
SPIN
SPIN is a support group run by and for parents of children with special, educational, medical or social needs.
The group meets on the first Monday of each month at 10 am in each others’ houses (usually in Gamlingay) for coffee and a chat.
We are able to offer support in completing DLA (Disability Living Allowance) forms and in accessing help from other agencies.
Our regular members have a wealth of experience gleaned from their own children.  We always welcome regular members or casual visitors.

Primary and secondary schools

Hatley falls within the catchment area of Gamlingay First School. Children can start their education there at the beginning of the school year in which they turn five.  Children then transfer to Gamlingay Village College aged eight and to Stratton Upper in Biggleswade or Sandy Upper in Sandy at the age of 13.  This is the Bedfordshire three tier system.  See also the Bedfordshire Schools' website.

Parents who prefer the Cambridgeshire two tier system can apply (through the Admissions Office in Cambridge) for places in schools such as Barnabas Oley Primary School in Great Gransden, Petersfield CE Primary School in Orwell or Bassingbourn Community Primary School.

Children can start at these schools at the beginning of the school year in which they turn five.  However, these schools are often over subscribed, making it difficult to gain a place and parents may therefore have to go through Cambridgeshire County Council's appeals process.

From the primary schools, children transfer into the Cambridgeshire secondary system of village colleges.  Details are in the Cambridgeshire County Council Education and learning website.
